Botanical Tiles
I started making small tiles at the very beginning of my career with just a few basic designs. Over the years they got bigger, and the total number of designs increased to nine. They are slip-cast from my hand sculpted original design.
All nine are available in two sizes, 7.5 inches and 14 inches. The tiles are versatile and can be combined and arranged in a variety of ways. People often buy the entire set of nine and group them together. They hang just like a picture, with wire on the back so you can install them yourself or we have wonderful people who you can hire to hang them for you.
Commissioning A Custom Piece
When I start a new commission, it always begins with a conversation. I love to have new clients visit my studio to review and discuss my past work and we can have a chance to get to know each other. Plus, I like them to see firsthand where their mural will be created.
During the initial visit, I’ll ask a ton of questions and answer a ton more. Together we can look at a portfolio of finished pieces, get an idea of what you like and don’t like. It helps if you bring along pictures of where the mural will be installed. And measurements are very welcome. If you live in the greater Phoenix area, I’m glad to visit your home to discuss the project, take pictures, measurements and really get a feel for the space the piece will live.
It’s important to keep clients in the loop during the design and the build stages and I try to do that with sketches and digital representations of what the finished mural will look like once installed. I also send pictures along the way as I work. After the design has been approved, a 50% deposit is required to begin construction which, depending on the size of the finished piece, can take about 10 to 12 weeks.
